Digimon: Digital Monsters third season is a lot different than the first two. It takes place in the real world, not the Digital World, where Digimon is just a regular TV show. Digimon Tamers, as its called in Japan, takes place in West Shinjuku instead of Odiaba. Takato, Henry, and Rika each receive a mysterious Blue Card. Once 'Card Slashed', this Blue Card enables these children to receive their own Digimon partner. Rika gets Renamon, Henry gets Terriermon, and Takato gets Guilmon, his made up Digimon.

Digimon begin to appear in the real world. The Digimon Tamers must rush to stop these threats before they can cause any real damage. In order to succeed, they must team up with each other, although Rika wants no part of being a team. With the help of a small mysterious little Digimon, Calumon, the Tamers Digimon are able to digivolve when needed. Not much is known about this strange little Digimon. It doesn't like violence, and loves to play!

Another small Digimon is running around the real world also. Impmon is a short, mean, little Digimon. He enjoys spoiling everyone's fun, and causing fights, as long as he doesn't end up in the fight himself.

A group of people called The Hypnos, are monitoring Digimon as they break through the digital barrier into the real world. What are their plans? Who are they? Nobody quite knows yet, but will it stay that way forever?
